Brian Cox is The Escapist

Frank Perry (Brian Cox) is an institutionalized convict twelve years into a life sentence without parole. When he learns that his daughter has become ill, he is determined he make peace with her before it's too late. He develops an ingenious escape plan, and recruits a dysfunctional band of escapists - misfits with a mutual dislike for one other but united by their desire to escape their hell hole of an existence.

The Escapist is directed by first-time French filmmaker Rupert Wyatt and it has a hell of a cast.

As well as Brian Cox it also features Joseph Fiennes, Liam Cunningham, Seu Jorge, Dominic Cooper, Steven Mackintosh and Damian Lewis.

I do like a good prison escape film and this one looks to be pretty damn special.

Just reading Pappillon - now there's an escape story and a half (well, 9 to be exact!). Bloomin' marvelous film as well with fine performances from Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman - well worth a gander.

Pappillon is a brilliant film. Never read the book though. Is the film a faithful adaption?

Do a review of the film if you wish.

no as normal quite diffrent than the book, he manages to escape finds a pair of local girls to shack up with then decides to go back but gets captured and locked up in a different countries jail. plus the evil brits hand him back as well

I loved The Escapist. Cox is excellent. Criminal that it was only showing at my local cinema for a week. No wonder British films do badly if they're not given any advertising budget and no cinema time.

Del's perfectly correct - not much like the book at all. Doubt i'l get round to doing a review (would need to rewatch the film as well as somehow blag the time during work to actually write the thing) but you never know!
